I think it’s easy to feel sympathy for David and his inability to love given his childhood. Coming from the perspective of Hella, I believe she loved him for who she believed he could become and not who he was presently. Which I think is something as humans we tend to do a lot, on one hand it makes sense because we see the potential in the person to be better but on the other hand the person doesn’t feel like we see them for who they truly are. Which is probably why he yearned for Giovani so much but due to his own demons he was unable to express that love. Absolutely love your summary 💝
